Peter Bring may well have the most diverse angling experience of any guide in Western Montana. Lucky for him, his father also shares his passion for fly-fishing and has the means to travel extensively worldwide.
Peter’s first fish on a fly was a 7-pound bone off of Harbour Island in the Bahamas while fishing with the original “Bonefish Joe” who guided Ted Williams. And that was just the beginning of a “life on the fly.” He has since spent time chasing Atlantic salmon in Laxa i Adaldal, Iceland; spey-casting for the same on the Ponoi River, Russia; flats fishing for bones, permit and tarpon in Mexico, Belize and Florida; and chased peacock in Brazil. But his favorite is an annual trip with his dad to fish the Upsalquitch River in New Brunswick, Canada for Atlantic salmon. Peter has been in the enviable position of benefiting from meeting excellent guides around the world and learning something from each to apply while guiding here in Montana.
Peter attended Environmental Sciences Program at the University of Montana and received an education, plus appreciation for Montana’s unique and diverse ecology, which he enjoys sharing with his clients. For five years he lived in a “guide house” on the banks of the Blackfoot River (his personal favorite) with two other guides, where he learned how to tie effective foam patterns. When guiding single clients he likes to bring along his fish-hunting black lab, Jasper. Peter's quiet and respectful demeanor has made him a favorite of many clients and we are psyched to have him back again this season.
