Every now and then you meet someone and know immediately what an outstanding individual you’ve happened upon. That was our first impression of Mark Elliot and will be yours as well.
Mark is one of a few native Montana guides. He grew up in Great Falls and cut his teeth on the world-renowned Smith and Missouri rivers. A football scholarship to Western Montana College put Mark in Dillon, Montana. While in school, his time was split between wading the Beaverhead River and trying to escape “psychotic” linebackers. By the middle 1990s, Mark was guiding on the rivers of his youth, transferred to UM, and graduated with a degree in resource conservation. While his then girlfriend, now wife, Sara finished up her master’s degree in Idaho, Mark spent his summers guiding in Montana. They moved back to Montana and settled in Missoula literally the day after her graduation, and Mark now works in construction during the winter months.
Mark continues to guide several Smith River trips each spring and is a welcome addition to our Missoula operation. His lifelong experience, positively energetic attitude, and genuine Montana personality are something every client could only hope to get to know..
