Montana fishing report
Philipsburg, Montana’s finest fly fishing shop
At Blackfoot River Outfitters, we don’t hire guides based simply by their Montana fishing experience - but rather their life experience.

Your time on the water is valuable. Too valuable to waste on a guide who thinks your trip is about them instead of you. Our guides will put you on fish, improve your angling skills and increase your fly fishing knowledge. Just as importantly, they enjoy sharing a good story, lay out an exceptional lunch spread and generally make fine company. Some of our guides have fished the world over, others grew up in Montana and find it hard to fish elsewhere. We have guides in their 50’s and others in their 20’s. They are students and parents, Easterners and Westerners, musicians and mechanics. All are special and go about the art of guiding in different ways – and all are hired to make the most of your time on the water.

Chase Robeson is a fourth generation Montanan, growing up and exploring the vast country of Western Montana. His solid work ethic is grounded in his ranching background on the Montana family ranch. With the Montana wilderness out his backdoor, Chase explored and developed a knowledge of all the “fishy” waters throughout the Missoula area. Chase’s easy going personality, helped him share his unique perspective with others as whitewater rafting guide on the local rivers prior to becoming a fishing guide. He enjoys hunting, rafting, backpacking and especially hooking some fish now and then.

The search for great water is Chase’s passion; he has spent time traveling to Chile, Argentina and Africa in search of great fishing waters and if they have some curling waves he is even happier. When he is not guiding, traveling or in search of adventure he spends his off-season working for a local eBay and website business.

Just like many of the BRO guides, Chase has been able to multi-task fishing and education. Chase was fortunate to play college soccer for three years before finishing his formal education at the University of Montana. He holds two degrees in Business Management and Environmental Management. Chase’s passion for fishing and his positive personality will certainly make for a day well spent on the water.
